How We Got Our Name

People occasionally ask about where our name Reboot Roasting came from.

While brainstorming names, Reboot was the one that stuck for a few reasons.

1) Coffee starts the day

First, the word "reboot" means to boot again or restart. I don't know about you, but if I don't get my coffee in the morning things don't feel quite right. That first sip of coffee in the morning feels like a fresh start — a reboot for your brain and body.

2) It's an ode to IT

Second, for over 15 years I worked in I.T. (Information Technology) — everyone knows me as “the computer guy”. The name Reboot Roasting pays homage to the years I spent working in that field. Some of the skills and traits that helped me in I.T. lend themselves well to coffee roasting.

Fun fact: The glasses in the Reboot Roasting logo are literally the outline of my personal glasses. They were scanned in and converted into our logo.

3) This is a career reboot

I had always dreamt of doing something in the coffee field, but assumed it would be opening a small shop. It was always a someday...eventually...in the back of my mind conversation. When I started the hobby of roasting coffee on my homemade roaster, I quickly discovered there was something about it that clicked and stuck. The someday...eventually...in the back of my mind conversations quickly turned into "I'm doing this now."

As Paul Harvey used to say, “Now you know…the rest of the story.”
